The first track, "Thorns & Horns," features TDE member, Ab-Soul. The entire track is definitely dope, but the tags and watermarks on the beat definitely blow it a little. So let's hope we get a CDQ version free from that.

The second track, " DopeBoysAtAllStarWeekend," features Gizzle. The track is fun and an EDM sensation. Definitely something dope to hear Lupe rap over!  Nice!

K.R.I.T. produced the track, who better else. The two Southerns definitely rip it a new one, both delivering A1 verses! They actually compliment one another well and that definitely helps a lot!

[New Tunes] Larry Fisherman Feat. Da$h, Ab-Soul, Vince Staples, and RetcH - Amen

Mac Miller's producer alter ego is Larry Fisherman and he grabs a couple of notables to bring his track to life. "Amen" features Ab-Soul, Vince Staples, Da$h, and RetcH. The 6-minute track is something cool to listen to.

Da$h starts the track off with a verse that could have been omitted, but Ab-Soul and Vince Staples hold down the middle verses very nicely, and then RetcH comes in and sets himself apart from the rest with a totally different flow. Larry Fisherman has a nice ear for music, his production skills are nice!

Yesterday, Smoke DZA let out some fire on his new track "Hearses" which features Ab-Soul. The song is definitely dope on so many levels.

First, you have Ab-Soul on the amazing chorus and then he turns around and delivers a solid verse. Smoke DZA definitely does his thing as he usually does, but the Cam'ron ad-lib "Killa" adds that perfect something to the track. Shoutout to the engineer and producer on this track forreal!

[Flashback Friday] Peter, Paul, and Mary - Puff, the Magic Dragon

Today is Flashback Firday! So you know it's time for me to highlight a song that mattered to me when I was younger, just as much as it matters now. Today, I'm highlighting the 1963 track "Puff, the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul, and Mary.

I'm highlighting this song because I remember hearing this song when I was about 8 and the chorus was so catchy, that I remember singing in in elementary school and getting in trouble. Never knowing why until I was older and realized that they were talking about smoking weed. Jackie papers was the rolling papers and that mighty dragon (draggin') was a good hit of marijuana. 

Peter, Paul, and Mary made a hidden track all about promoting the use of marijuana and that's perfectly fine with me! It's my motto!

You'll see the 911 operator, news coverages, the interrogation room, and even the thoughts he had if he would have passed away in the incident. 

The song is touching and it sheds light on how fast a tragedy can happen and change your whole plan.

The last song that was highlighted from the soundtrack for the upcoming motion picture Divergent was from Ellie Goulding. Now Pia Mia gives her offering from the soundtrack by releasing "Fight For You" which features Chance The Rapper.

The song has a smooth, but futuristic type sound to it which Pia Mia's voice sounds wonderful on top. Chance just comes in and delivers a solid verse, good seeing positive things go to both artist. Soundtracks are great to be apart of!

[New Video] Retro Sushi Feat. Rome Fortune - Zonin'

Late 2012, I was completely in love with Retro Sushi's Kung Fu In Japan mixtape. That tape was definitely a banger from beginning to end and one of my favorite tracks off that project was "Zonin'." So when the news circulated yesterday on twitter that they were dropping the video, total excitement filled my body!

Talk about an unusual collaboration, Lupe and Ty Dolla $ign, who would have thought? Well, I guess being the fact that they are on the same record label makes for this weird collaboration. 

The first track is entitled "$nitches" which features Ty Dolla $ign and the second track is just Lupe by himself on a trace entitled "$nitches 2." Both are equally interesting, but nothing beats that Food & Liquor swag Lupe use to have.

“Commitment Issues” catches your ears right from the beginning with the eerie yet truthful lines:
"Pillow grippin, sweat is drippin, liquor sippin, blur my vision. Baddest niggas, bad intentions, do 'em like it's new religion.."
Stoney continues to float throughout the song and ends it with a rather familiar sample. Can you name the movie it came from?

Zoogma took R.L. Burnside "Let My Baby Ride" and Young Buck "Shorty Wanna Ride" and created a mash entitled "Let My Shorty Ride."

Zoogma labels it as Electro-Blues and you can definitely see that! It rocks so smoothly that you'll be jamming to it subconsciously and enjoy every moment of it. It's definitely something different and something nice! I love it.

Amerigo Gazaway’s new *Soul Mates* series continues the theme of his previous work in creating collaborations that never were. On the series’ first installment, the producer unites Brooklyn rapper Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and soul legend Marvin Gaye for a dream collaboration aptly titled “Yasiin Gaye”. Building the album’s foundation from deconstructed samples of Gaye’s Motown classics, Gazaway re-orchestrates the instrumentation into new productions within a similar framework. Carefully weaving Bey’s dense raps and Gaye’s soulful vocals over his new arrangements, the producer delivers a quality far closer to Gaye’s famous duets than that of a “mashup” album.

[Fashion] Backstage at Moschino A/W 2014

 

Jeremy Scott re-purposed Moschino's iconic belts for his first collection with the brand. Models were draped up and dripped out in gold chains, charms, and even Mercedes emblems. The garments took a nod from menswear with denim quilted snapbacks and with matching quilted bomber jackets. Quilted leather was also represented in the collection.

   

 

 

 

 It wouldn't be Jeremy Scott without in-your-face references to pop culture. From a fashion forward spin on the McDonalds logo, SpongeBob SquarePants' hilarious facial expressions, to gowns made from Hot Cheetos bags, there was plenty of humor in the collection.

Steve Stoute's book, The Tanning of America, finally gets the real spotlight it deserves as VH1 does a four part documentary series based on the book. The series provides a virtual history and cultural lesson on hip-hop and it's power over the new economy.

CyHi drops off an 18-track tape that Kanye West executively produces and who would have guessed! The tape has a slew of other producers like Muhammed, TEC BEATZ, and a couple of more. He definitely keeps the feature list down to just King Louie, Marian Mereba, Miloh Smith, and a few others. The tape is definitely both educational and hip all in one. CyHi usually is a hit or miss when it comes to mixtapes, but this one is alright.
