[Art] Olek - I do not expect to be a mother but I do expect to die alone Exhibit

Tumblr is a great place to become well aware of things that may not be easily accessible to you. Living in Nashville, Tn, we definitely lack dope art exhibits and showcases. Indeed we do have the Art Crawl which happens once a month and we have the Frist Museum, but we don't get the Jeff Koons or the Takashi Murakami exhibits.
I stumbled across Olek by WeTheUrban and her exhibit was breathtaking. Entitled "I do not expect to be a mother but I do expect to die alone", Olek crochets her art with beautiful patterns and text message like quotes such as "So we R Over" and "I Want 2 B On Top Of U Right Now". Styled in the manner of entire rooms,  she created beds, chairs, baskets, and even human replicas. The process seems very hard to achieve the looks, but she definitely makes it looks effortless because of how much she puts into it.
The detailing is superb and beautiful.
Creative genius is exactly what this is and for those who are in the NYC area get to see the exhibit up close and in person so I'm pretty sure it's even more breathtaking.
Olek has a website in which you can see where her and her exhibit will be at next, so be sure to check it out and see if it's coming to a city near you.

A loop after a loop. Hour after hour my madness becomes crochet. Life and art are inseparable. The movies I watch while crocheting influence my work, and my work dictates the films I select. I crochet everything that enters my space. Sometimes it’s a text message, a medical report, found objects. There is the unraveling, the ephemeral part of my work that never lets me forget about the limited life of the art object and art concept. What do I intend to reveal? You have to pull the end of the yarn and unravel the story behind the crochet. My work changes from place to place. I studied the science of culture. With a miner’s work ethic, I long to delve deeper and deeper into my investigations. My art was a development that took me away from industrial, close-minded Silesia, Poland. It has always sought to bring color and life, energy, and surprise to the living space. My goal is to produce new work and share it with the public. I intend to take advantage of living in NYC with various neighborhoods and, with my actions, create a feedback to the economic and social reality in our community. -Olek
Check out some of the photos below of her work. It's amazing.
